Accounts Payable Manager - Naas Road, Clondalkin, Dublin 22

Part of Grafton Group Plc, Chadwicks Group and MacBlair are market leaders in the builder’s merchanting industry in the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland. The core business comprises the Builders Merchants division. Main brands include Chadwicks, MacBlair, Cork Builders Providers, Davies and Telfords. In addition, through organic growth and acquisitions the Group have established a range of brands which are close to the core but offer a uniquely different range of products.  These include Heitons Steel, Panelling Centre, Morgans Timber, Proline and Sitetech in the Republic of Ireland and Woodfloor Warehouse and Doorways in Northern Ireland.

 

Position Summary

Reporting to the Finance Manager of Chadwicks Group, the Accounts Payable Manager will oversee the accounts payable department's operations and ensure the timely and accurate processing of invoices and payments. This role requires a strategic and innovative leader who can drive process improvements and implement change to enhance efficiency and effectiveness. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in finance, exceptional analytical skills and a proven track record of success in managing accounts payable functions. It represents an all-island role that is central to progression of the Group’s strategy.

 

Key Responsibilities

Operational Management

  • Manage and develop a team of c. 21 accounts payable professionals, providing guidance, mentorship and performance feedback.
  • Oversee day-to-day accounts payable operations, including invoice processing, payments and vendor management.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, regulatory requirements and industry best practices.
  • Develop and maintain KPI’s to measure and report on the performance of the accounts payable function.
  • Resolve complex accounts payable issues and escalate as needed to ensure timely resolution.

Process Improvements

  • Analyse current accounts payable processes and identify areas for improvement to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
  • Develop and implement best practices and standard operating procedures to streamline accounts payable operations.
  • Leverage technology and automation tools to optimize invoice processing and payment workflows.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate accounts payable processes with other financial and operational systems.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of implemented changes and adjust as necessary to achieve desired results.

Change Management

  • Lead the implementation of new processes and systems within the accounts payable department.
  • Develop and execute change management plans to ensure a smooth transition.
  • Communicate effectively with stakeholders at all levels to gain buy-in and support for process improvements and changes.
  • Provide training and support to the accounts payable team to ensure successful adaptation of new processes and systems.
  • Integrate newly acquired companies’ accounts payable systems and processes to ensure seamless operations.
  • Integrate MacBlair and Chadwicks accounts payable systems and processes to achieve uniform systems across the island of Ireland.

Key Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in accounts payable, with at least 2 years in a managerial capacity.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify issues and develop effective solutions.
  • Strong leadership and team-building capabilities, with a focus on fostering a collaborative and high-performing work environment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (Excel, Word, Outlook etc) and ERP systems, with experience optimizing these tools.
  • Project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple initiatives simultaneously.

Contract 

  • Permanent full time
  • Full time 39-hour contract
  • Working week Monday to Friday (hybrid)
